The book is the first in the Cherub series.
In the beginning it is about the life of James Adams, before he became a Cherub agent. It does get a bit sad when his mom dies of drinking too much, so then his uncle comes too live with him and his sister, Their uncle has been selling illegal cigarettes and drinking too much, so James and his younger sister Lauren are in a heap of trouble. So the next day James is sent to a boarding school. At the Boarding School, he meets some of his future Cherub friends. Then one day, James is caught by the police for stealing beer with his bad influence friends. He then also gets shot with a dart gun. When he wakes up, he is in his room at the Cherub campus, but he looks at his shirt and he sees a baby with wings and bullets around the baby. So then he decides to look around, but people are ignoring him.Then a person asked him to do training, but it is extremely hard to complete. He however luckily manages to complete the training. He is then allowed to go on his first mission. Afterwards he earns his grey shirt and his sister is also allowed to become a Cherub agent
I would give this book a 5 out of 5 star for such an awesome beginning to the series .
